Daniel Tunjano (CHANKUKO- sustainable jewellery maker)

Daniel Tunjano,  is a Colombian jewellery Artisan, who started a beautiful eco- friendly jewellery project called Chankuko. Since 2010, he runs this fantastic idea of recycling tube tyre rubber and also the inside plastic rubber coming from all metallic lids of soft drinks and beers.
His inspiration and creativity comes from all colours and forms of nature. He has developed two main fantastic jewellery projects, "Poisoned frogs" and "Flowers and Orchids ".
He says that even though the metal coming from the lids, is a recycled material, they need to take off the rubber from the inside and burn it, which in the process, becomes very toxic for the environment. So this idea finds a massive purpose of consciousness in consuming products that can be reuse with great quality and giving them a longer life to avoid pollution and contamination for our planet earth.
Chankuko jewellery is a unique and a very exclusive jewellery, that combines the beauty of silver and gold, with the elasticity, resistance and longevity of the recycled rubber lids.
Through the making of each piece of jewellery, his main goal is to is to be  environmentally conscious and responsible of his concept,  and we are very proud to have such a talented jewellery Artist as part of our crew of Artists at Tonsuca.
